Beyonce 4 album cover !!!!

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter born September 4, 1981), known mononymously as Beyoncé, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and actress. 4 is the fourth studio album by American recording artist Beyoncé Knowles, released through Columbia Records on June 24, 2011. Three weeks before its scheduled release, 4 had leaked onto the Internet.

when I first saw this album cover I was drawn to it, the reason for the was because of the striking photography that has been used to create the wow factor. and what I liked about the cover was that it is simple I contains the stunning picture of the artist and the artist name with a plain pastel background which works really well as it makes the photography stand out even more. you also get a sense that the artist is looking down on you, by the way that the the camera angel has taken the photo, its just amazing and contains so much to look at by the album cover is almost empty which I think makes it even more great.

the album has been created by amazing photography and has been edited onto the cover with the plain background that creates even more of an effect, the typography has been done by using the artist name with the style that it is always shown as, this is the type that is always used so by putting it on the album people will be able to recognise it and relate that text to the artist. I think that the key factors are definitely simplistic with a hint of wow to grab peoples attention, the logo has been created with a very simple fount but helps it stand out, it shows the artist as sophisticated. this album cover is all about the photography and has been made up of that. I also like the way that the type is behind that photo, it adds layers and depth to the image, which makes it even more interesting for people to look at and thats exactly what you want when you are trying to sell records.

the back of the album cover follows on with the logo and the photography also the back cover photo follows on from the inside sleeve so it has all been joined together which I think is important to make connections with the whole album. I think the album as a whole has a message of power and this message has been brought across really well. the use of the artist being on a high building in the photo could symbolise that she is so powerful and is on top of the world because that's the feeling you get when you look at this photo.

I think that the target audience for the music would be any age group, the type of music is very wide, from RNB to slow music. so her music fits all types of taste and also most moods that people could be in. that is how she has managed to create such an amazing fan base because of all the different types of music.

I love the use of photography that is simple and has been taken with power, the photo makes a statement and that's what i think is important. I would like to use photos on my album but I would want to make them have power and an impact when people see it.

Blur --- The best of album cover !!!!!!

Blur are an English alternative rock band. Formed in London in 1988 as Seymour, the group consists of singer Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James and drummer Dave RowntreeBlur: The Best Of is a greatest hits compilation album by English Britpop band Blur, first released in late 2000 and is the final Blur album by Food Records.

when I first saw this cover, I loved it because the design has been done by using Photoshop to create stencils out of photographs of each of the band members, and the reason that I like this so much is because this design is so universal and goes with almost any theme. I think that the colours are great they are bright so they will stand out on a shelf around all the other music cds, I also like the fact that the cd cover has no typography, because to me this shows that the band are relying on their fans to buy the cd as the cover gives nothing away about the band or even what music they do. so its a bit of a mystery as to what is inside the album. to me the stencil design is what stuck out to me and I don't think that this cover even needs any typography because its amazing by itself and the art work does the selling. I also think that the layout of the cover is very reflective of pop art and that's another factor that I think people will recognise and that's why I think this cover is really cleaver.
these are the two main logos of the band , and to me the first one seems to reflect the bands name by having blurred coloured lights behind the name, which I think is a really good design idea and it also brings the name to life. and by having colour behind it helps highlight the name even more. the second one is very plain black but I think that it shows the band as the rock side and they don't wan too much fuss with the design, as that would take away from the name, so I think it is really effective as it is simple but stands out and can be seen which I think is really good.

I think that the target audience for the bands music could be middled aged people to teenagers, rock has such I wide range of fans, and I think it would appeal to people who want up beat music but with a twist and are also looking for different types of rock.

I like this album cover and I think that I would use the stencil effect on the artist of my own album cover as i think that it works so well and there are so many things that can be done with stencilling and it can be used almost anywhere for every genre of music. so I think I will definitely consider it.

The Shins -- Chutes Too Narrow !!!!!!! album

The Shins are an American indie rock band from Albuquerque, New Mexico, formed in 1996. The band consists of James Mercer (vocals, guitar), Joe Plummer (drums), Jessica Dobson (guitar), Yuuki Matthews (bass) and Richard Swift (keyboards). The band is currently based in Portland, OregonChutes Too Narrow is The Shins' 2003 follow-up to their debut album, Oh, Inverted World. The album title comes from a lyric in the song "Young Pilgrims".

when i first saw this album i was drawn to it by the colour and the detail design on the cover, it made me want to look deeper at the cover to see everything that is on the cover, the use of bright colours draws you to the album and thats why i think the design works really well. it makes me think that the music will be upbeat and have alot of beats going on as the design looks happy and with alot going on so that could reflect how the music is going to be.
this is the inner sleeve to the album, and the bright colour and design continues, I think that this is a really good way of marketing the album as it grabs people attention and also on analysing the sleeve further i found out that the illustration on it all relates to the lyrics of the songs that have been included in the album, and the whole design has been based around that. almost like the songs are telling a story with the pictures.

i think that the target audience for this album could be middle aged people as those are the age group that is most likely to know about the band and had grown up with them, although I do think that the album cover looks like it has been done for children with the use of bright colours and cartoon like images, so I don't think that the album cover reflects the target audience much and I also think that maybe the group are quite fun going people and don't take things to seriously as the art work reflects that on their album.

i think that the album is very effect at portray a message, the whole design is about the songs and what they mean, also there is the lyrics to the songs on the sleeve so I think that it has been portrayed well and has been designed for the buyers viewing pleasure, with all the detail it makes them want to go and keep looking at it i also think that it would be a good talking point to the album.

it has been made on card and has been created using Photoshop with the added designs of the images, also another design part of the album is that they have not just created the design and then simply printed it out, they have also shaped the card, to fit the design on it, which shows even further thought when creating it.

i think that this album is really good and the thing I like most about it is that the sleeve isn't just a plain square shape it has been shaped to fit the design that has been illustrated onto the sleeve I think I will use the use of shaping in my cd cover to add design and make it something different.

Beck !! The Information album design....!!!!!!

Beck Hansen (born Bek David Campbell, July 8, 1970) is an American musiciansinger-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, known by the stage name BeckThe Information is the tenth (and seventh major-label) studio album by American alternative rock musician Beck, released in October 2006 onInterscope Records

when I first saw this album cover I thought it was the worst cover i had ever seen, it had no design and would have been completely plain if it wasn't for the graph paper and the name beck, that is why I thought it was a complete design failure and in fact over looked the album when looking at the albums. it didn't tell me anything about the artist or the type of music and in fact I thought that in a music shop amongst al other albums with big designs it would get easily over looked. although one thing that i did pick up from the album was that the name looks like it has been made out of Lego which I think it amazing and nearly everyone will be able to relate to that design of the Lego so for that part I think it is a really good design.

this is the inside cover, and this is where your view of the front cover completely changes as you open up the inside the boring and drab design is suddenly explained and becomes one of the most amazing thought up ideas that I haven't ever seen been done before, you realise that the cover is completely plain because the artist has put pages of stickers inside the cover for you to create your own personal design, so you as a fan would have your own unique design, there is an explanation from the artist his self about this never been done before design "The album was issued with a blank sleeve and booklet and one of four different sheets of stickers for fans to make their own album art. Beck explained to Wired magazine he wanted no two copies of the CD cover to be the same: "The artwork is going to be customizable. The idea is to provide something that calls for interactivity."

i think that the target audience would be for maybe more for middle ages people, the reason for this is because the whole of the album design has been created and what seems like little memories of childhood, for example the stickers when the target audience was younger stickers where a big craze and collecting stickers, also the logo effect design almost everyone played with logo and the album is almost like a trip down memory lane even the stickers are of things that would have been popular back then, which I think is an amazing idea. so to me that is how the design is relating to the target audience and also the music by it being unique that could portray that the music is unique I think that with this album everything is connected.

i think this is my favourt album, it started off as my worst but then suddenly became the best by the hidden wonder inside. I think I will definitely use the interactive part of the design in my own work as I think that is a really good way to make your fan base feel part of the work you do that will be a definite idea that I would consider somehow.

The Chemical Brothers - Push The Button album !!!!!

Push the Button is the fifth studio album by English big beat band The Chemical Brothers, first released in January 2005,The Chemical Brothers are a British electronic music duo composed of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons

when i first saw this CD cover the first thing that came to my mind was it looks like a person facing the side with a brain, that was the image that first came to me, but on further analysis there is a strong sense of power and strength. the significant image of a fist shows power and also the tower of bricks with the cracks so that there is allot of strength to break the bricks, the whole front of the cover screams power which I think it really eye catching and grabs your attention for the many different images that has been combined if nothing else. it makes me think that the music will be very upbeat and loud based of the cover. and I think that the cover is an exact reflection of what the music is going to be like, have allot of power to the beat and also with the image of a head coming through it could also be a simple of it being head banging music.

I think that this album would have been created on Photoshop with the effects of the cracked bricks added in for effect. there is also the use of handmade type which adds even more design and effect to the cover, it shows creativity and this would have all been done on the computer to create the perfect effect. I think that the typography has been used to create the effect of blood flowing through the brain it could be symbolic of the words of the songs flowing through people heads and i think that it is amazing the design has been well thought and to have multiple images in one is even better.

I think that the colours are really good, plain but effective is what i think, the use of only using three colours allows the design to stand out instead of being over powered by colour, the colour complements the design and they fit side by side instead of over powering.

I think that the target audience for the band would be people who like loud music, and want to have a good time. I think that the age group could have quite a big gap, it could start at teenage years for teenagers that like loud music and like to party to older more middled age people who might be older but can still enjoy that genre of  music.

this is the logo of the band and i think that it has a hindo look to it, and although the writing is in English to me i think it looks like the hindo language and the shapes and design of the letters really reflect that and that was my first thought as soon as i saw it.

I like the at work on this album and I really like the two in one images on the cover and the deign i also think that the use of three colours is a very good idea and I think I will be keeping that in mind when i create my album cover and too make sure that the colours are not taking away from the design.

Coldplay x&y album ...

this is the album cover of coldplay x&y album Coldplay are a British alternative rock band formed in 1996 by lead vocalist Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland at University College London. the album was created by The artwork for X&Y was designed by graphic design duo Tappin Gofton, formed by Mark Tappin and Simon Gofton. on my first reaction i didnt find it interesting and it didnt apeal to me, the reaon for this was because i thought it wa too plain and also there isnit much design on the cover, althought i think that when coldplay designed this album they put alot of thought into it that what is seen on the first glance as you find out that the cover is code which is called The Baudot code and the album cover reads x&y which is the title of the album, so althought it doesnt seem to have much design when just looking at it, you find out that alot of thought and design has gone into it.

For the type of music they do (rock) i dont think that the cover works well with it as it seems quite plain and simple and rock music is normally quite loud or in your face, and trying to make a statment and to me the album cover doesnt reflect this, alothought coldplay could be trying new ideas with their music and that is why the album cover has been done like this also i think that it could have a deeper meaning of that they are trying to be secretive about the music or the type of music that is inside hence the face that the album cover has been done in code. i think that the design creates a very confued mood as your not quite sure what it is all about, it has been created using the colour acording to the code and i think that is really amazing and interesting. it also would have took quite awhile to create. it would have been done on photoshop to put the code together and then pint it onto the album cover. also they didnt have a choice in the use of colours as there are set colours in the codes for the letters, so these colours have been used because those are the offical colours of the code that create the letters.

this is the logo of the band coldplay, and by looking and the simplistity of the logo you can understand that simple design on the cover is true to the bands style. I think that there is a complex message but you don't find that out until later on so that's when you realise that the cover has had allot of thought put into it but sales wise from just looking at the cover i think that they are relying on there fan base to buy the cd for the band and not because of what the cover looks like. the simple black logo design represents the bands music and also black is a colour that is related to rock so i think that it is perfect for them as a band.

this was on the inside of the cover and this is when the cover becomes clear and you realise that its not just a pattern on the cover, the inside booklet has the whole alphabet on the inside and the how to put each letter into code. i think this is an amazing idea and it a way to interact with their fan base, i also think it shows care of the album that the band has put it, it shows complex thought and that its not just random colours they are all there for a reason forming secret letters and that I find unique and will also make people talk about the album which is promoting it.

i think this is an amazing idea and fits the band perfectly as its such a surprise and i think that's what they like to surprise theirs fans, but i don't think i would use this as i want my album cover to be clear what its about and come across with the message i want of summer.

stencil work and pop art work, using pixie lott !!

i was given a task to create a stencil, i wanted to link it to my summer album project and i have also began to create a theme of female artist, and songs that make me think of summer, which is why i have chosen to use pixie lott to create this stencil, i also wanted to pick a image that would reflect the summer album, and to me i think this image would fit perfectly because it represents pixies personality and also with the dress has a sense of summer with a twist and thats why i chose to use this image.

before i could turn the image into a stencil i needed to create a black and white image by using photoshop, i also had to play around with the scale of black and white this was to make sure when cutting the image there would be enough black to make sure the image would still make sense when putting it onto paper.

i think that this worked really well and also as the original image was mostly made of the colours black and white i think that helped to create a clear scale image ready to cut.

i think if i was to do the image again i would add more detail onto the hair as that was quite hard to cut out and clearly show that it is hair.

this was the result of the stencil once i had cut the black out of my black and white image, this was done by making sure that all the black had gone completely from the image, but i also at times had to create bridges for example the eyes, there was a black part right in the middle of a white area and so i had to join the black up to stop the cut out of the eye from becoming just a empty whole. once it had all been completely cut out, i turned the image over to the side where there were no lines and then used a little bit of prix stick to hold the stencil in place on the plain paper, then using a sponge and paint i covered over the whole area with paint until all the gaps had been covered in paint, then i carefully pulled off the stencil and this was the result i was left with.
i did the same thing with the sponge two times once with orange paint and the second time with pink paint, just to see the different effects of the colour. i think that it worked really well with both colours and both times the image has come out clear and you can see what the image is, which was the aim of the experiment.

i think that the cut out worked really well and i love the use of bright colours, as the colours also represent summer and the fun times of summer, i think these would be good colours to use for the album, the pink is the one that stands out the most to me. i also think that cut out of the blacked worked well and the image that was left on the page came left a really good and clear stencil.

i think if i was to do this again, i would use a clearer image as i had to create a few bridges to make sure that i didn't just have empty wholes where there should be detail. i also think that next time i would use a bigger image as that would make it easier to cut out and make a clearer image when making the stencil.

to further my stencil work i could experiment with different colours on the same stencil to gain a different effect, i would also try mixing materials such as paint and ink to see the outcome of it. but overall i think that it was successful and turned out a clear image that looks good with bright colours that catch the eye, i also think that this would be really good to use for my album cover when creating it.

this was my pop art experiment. i did this by using the same image of pixie lott that i used to create the stencil, although this was the result of adding the black and white image on photoshop and then adding new layers and adding colour first to make pixie lott have colour and then adding the background to create the typical pop art design, with the circles, this was all done on photoshop and by using the distort tool, with different shapes and the pattern has been changes by making the shapes smaller or bigger, to either make them stand out more or become more of a block colour.

i think that it worked really well and i think that after playing around with the shapes and colours i have managed to create a successful pop art print. i think that this would also be good for my summer album because the shapes and also the design of pop art, has a fun message with it and to me thats what summer is all about and i think that my image portrays this really well.

if i was to do this again, i would add more colour onto the image and also play around with the different shapes to create a different effect with the final image. if i was to further my work i would see how different images look and how different colours work with the pop art.

typographic picture !!!!!

this is an example of a typographic portrate image, this was done as part of the 51st grammy awards, this was done by the recording company who hired TBWA\chiat\day to product the typographic illiustrations , that was choosen to create a ad for the celebration of the 51st grammy awards. the posters where created in feb 8th 2009 as part of the grammy awards. this was all part of the commintion of the adwards. the reason that i have chosen to anaylse this is because i think that it is a new way of creating a picture and it changes simple photgraphy into a graphic design which i think gives photgraphy a whole new look and makes it stand out and look great.   to further understand the posters i have looked into the reason behind the workhttp://www.spinner.com/2009/01/13/steve-wonder-thom-yorke-get-artsy-for-grammys/ and i have found out that the posters where created by asking each artist for a list of their favourt songs at least 15 and one of their own. this was then turned into the typographic picture, by taking a photgraph of the artist and by using photoshop and the lyrics from the songs, the images have been edited and colour with texted add to turn the photo into all text that creates the picture of the artist.

when i first saw this artwork i instantly was drawn to it, i wanted to know more about it and how it was done thats how i knew it would be good to look at. and i saw all the bright colours and thats what got my attention also i have never seen a photo been made out of type before. i dont have any negatives about this work, i love the colours and also how its different colours because thats what makes it even more interesting. when i look at this worki i get reminded of all different songs and different artist it brings back alot of memories and thats why i think it works so well because its suposed to make you think of music. i have been inspired to go and create my own using my favourt artist, as i love the look of this way of designing.

this was my own attempt at making the typographic picture, and i did this by getting a image of a celebrity but when i was choosing i wanted to make sure that it was relevant to my summer projects which is to make a album about summer and summer songs, so i had this in mind when i was picking my picture, i also wanted to make sure the picture was suitable to be turned into a typographic picture so the picture had to be clear and have a clear shot of the artist face, this is also to keep in tune with the 51st grammy ads that where created. the picture above is a picture of Beyonce and lyrics from her song love on top, the reason i chose to do this was because i wanted the song love on top to go on my summer album and also i chose this picture because i think that it has a good view of the face and is also looks like she's having fun which is also reflecting the summer album. i created the image on photoshop by firstly turning the image i found into grey scale so i had a fresh image to work from and then added the lyrics onto and then added colour i also used the brush tool to make the definition of the face and the artist stand out more and adds more details.

i think that this worked really well for the first attempt and overall turned out how it was expected to, i love the use of colour that is my best part, because to me the colours represent summers and they are really bright and happy colours which is good to reflect the album, i think that also the text that comes through onto the picture is really good and i think the wavy hair adds a great effect to the image. if i wad to do this again i would probably add more lyrics and experiment more with sizes and different fonts, i also think that i could expand on this by playing with other colours and again the text as that is the main part of the picture.

this was my second attempt at creating the typographic picture with the same technique, but with this one i played about with the steps that you take to get to the final piece, to create a different outcome at the end to see how it would look. to get this effect i did the fist steps by turning the image grey scale on photoshop and then i only made the lyrics colour. i think that this worked really well and the outcome worked better than what i thought it would.
this time when making this image, i played around with the text more and experimented with the different sizes and shades of text, which i think worked a lot better than my first attempt and this time you can see that the lyrics more. the colours i played about with again and to me this looks summery and also rich with the yellow. and i think that it came out really well and how i wanted it to look. and i think playing about with the steps really paid off and created a really good new design.

this was the same picture but this time i completed the steps the same way as i did with my first atempt. i played about with the colours more and i also really wanted to keep the summer feel in tune with it. i think that it worked really well and this was definitely by far my best picture. i love the different texts and also the ray of colours to me it just grabs your attention and thats exactly what it should do as it needs to be effective to make people passing by see it and notice it.
if i was to keep expanding on this work i would definitely want to make it more in the style of the grammy ads and gain more skills to turn it into a better picture with more of the text making up the image of the artist and also i would add different fonts and play around with the text and the effects that could be done to it.
but overal i'm really happy with the outcome of all my images that i created and i think that it worked well and it reached my aim and also the end results. i especially liked playing around with the steps and creating a completely different image and out come i think that worked really well.

billie jean - 30 years of nike poster.

this has been created by an artist called Billie Jean (sam piyasena as he is also known) and it was done as part of an advertisement for nike trainers, celebrating 30years of nike basketball trainers. and has been done by using bic brio pen on graph paper by creating doodles all in pen that is all to do with the trainers and basketball it has all been hand drawn by the artist, there is a clear sense of thought that has gone into the work and you can tell that every doodle has a reason, this was to create the effect of a random doodle and then turn it into a poster. it doesn't say when the poster was published but there is a a date that says 1985 and that was when nike first realised that people where wearing the trainers as fashion and not just sport. this poster is all about celebrating 30years of people wearing sport trainers as fashion items aswell. the reason i have chosen to analyse this is because i love the unique look to it. as i have never seen anything like this before. and i think that the fact that it is in brio is just so amazing because a lot of poster work has a lot of different materials to it but this one is only done by pen but still has so much effect and that is why i wanted to look at the poster.

to understand the work better i have analyse parts of the poster, and from this i have found out that it would be based at young people eg teenagers, and the reason that the shoe is so big on the page is to get the message of the advertisement across as the page to me looks organised messy because everything is there on purpose but it still looks messy. also this has now become an advertisement for sport players and people that also follow fashion. there is a theme of retro going on around the whole poster, for example the rubix cube, and pac man games as part of some of the doodles show that this poster is retro and aimed at the 1985 year so the advertisement is very clear, that is the most important thing about the poster getting the message across clear. there is also a urban theme that is strongly represented the reason for this is because of where the poster will be set it will be in the city as that is where most of the target market will be, also it would fit in the country side because there isn't so much graffiti there as it wouldn't apeal to them as much, the location of where the poster will be advertised has been strongly thought about in the designing on the poster. the title 30years of nike basketball shoes tells you why they have made this poster and from further research you find out that the date on the poster is also when people first used them as a fashion item as well as sports wear. there is a lot of tone and shading that is going on with the poster, although only one type of pen has been used and only one colour there is a lot of depth and texture that comes across in the poster which makes it even more amazing and interesting.

when i first saw this piece of work i was amazed and just wanted to find out more about the work, to me i like everything about this poster and to me there is not a lot to fault about this. to me this work reminds me of just a simple doodle that everyone does when they are bored and thats why i think it works so well because it relate to the public. the work has inspired me to work more with simple materials and original ideas work really well.
this is my own attempt of creating a doodle poster using brio pen, i had to keep to the same pen and it had to be brio as i was following the research on billie jean and the nike poster, this was done on plain paper, and to me i think that it has worked really well as this was inspired from the billie jean poster i tried to create the controlled messy look and i think that it was worked really well on my own design although i would want to add even more detail on the doodle if i was to do it again.

my poster has been inspired by a song called love on top by Beyonce so from doing my research on the billie jean poster i wanted to make the doodle all about the lyrics and what the song is about, so i have chosen to have music notes and part of the lyrics on the doodle, i think that this worked really well and also i think that there is a clear music theme of the doodle. also another thing that i think worked really well was the music notes and headphones, and the reason this worked well was because it fitted in with the theme which is what i tried to do, i tried my best to make everything relevant to meaning of the poster. i also like the way it looks like its been scribbled on with no thought. overall i think it went really well and reflected Billie jeans poster really well.

if i was to do this task again i think i would make the lyrics stand out more as that is the focus of my design, i would also want to add more to my doodle because i don't think that i have added enough to my poster i think that i need to have more going on to reflect the style of billie jeans work even more, i would also add more tone and depth by shadowing and making some parts 3d to make them stand out. i think that this is a really good way of designing and to me i really enjoyed this work and would definitely want to use it again when design. this is a skill that i do everyday without even thinking about it and now i'm using it to create poster deigns and thats why i think its so effective bcause everyone can relate to it. and i loved it!

(AS-A2 project) Reuel Feenstra !!! graphite and charcole artist...

This was created by Reuel Feenstra, he lives in a small town called grand valley. he is an artist that specialises in graphite and charcole drawings of realistic drawings, most of his work that he does is for photographers and members of the public that want drawing of family members. this is a picture of a hand drawn human eye and has been called eye see you, it was created in 2009 and it is just amazing. the design has been made for person use.

the reason i have chosen to analyse this piece is for the pure emotion that it gives off when looking at it. i love the fact that it is so simple but has so much emotion when looking at it, it is as if the picture connect to you and i think that is the most important thing. that was what i thought when i first saw it how amazing it is by the way it connects to the person looking at it, this reminds me of a young family member for they looks like it comes from a young's person face. this reminds slightly of the life drawing from janice shaw as it looks so life like and has a similar style of drawing. this piece of art work inspires me to do more with drawing, and to see the amazing effects that can be done, so much detail has gone into this piece of work.

i have looked at a few websites to gain further knowledge of the artist and also his work, i found a web site that has about his life on there and also about his work which helped me to understand how he feels about his work and why he does what he does, http://www.2bdrawing.com/about_me.shtml it also helps you to know more about the persons work you are looking at. i also looked at a website that had a few of his drawing on there http://drawingartist.deviantart.com/ this was to get a better understanding of his work and to see the style in which he draws. “ often like to draw or colour at the kitchen table. I remember drawing horses, birds, cars, airplanes, and buildings. As a family, we would often go to the public library and find drawing books, and in this way, I learned how to draw.” that was a quote from a website that had a story about his life and how he become to be an artist and do drawings for a living.

I don't think that the artwork does have a theme, i don't think that any of his work comes with a theme its simply drawings of photographs given to him by photographers or drawings of people or objects for members of the public. i think the title is fun and a play on words with the eye see you and i think it fits the art work exactly. the materials that have been used are charcole and graphite together to create this amazing picture. the artist find inspiration from whatever he is asked to draw next its a fresh idea every-time. the artist has used shading to create effect and definition to the piece. the lighter and darker colours shows the detail of the eye and face. the formal elements of this piece is definitely colour and shaping, to create the definition of the eye and face.

(AS-A2 project) Peter Callesen !!! A4 paper cutting...

this piece of paper cutting was created by a man named peter callesen, his work is mostly all around paper cutting, he has worked almost exclusively with white paper in different objects, paper cuts, installations and performances. a large part of his work has been created from using A4 sheets of paper, which is just amazing the designs he has achieved from a simple sheet of paper that most people don't think anything of. the design is for display purposes and has been called distant fish, I don't think that the title gives much away but it does add a deeper meaning for example tells that the bird is looking for a fish it gives it a little bit of a story and was created in 2006, and would be on display in exhibitions.

the reason I have chosen to analyse this piece of work is because I love the way that he has used the most simple material no complex materials and its the simplicity of the design that makes it amazing he has created it by using acid-free A4 115gsm paper and glue and by folding the paper to create the objects and simply using glue to sick them together, making the most miss-able object in everyday life become unmissable is why I have chosen to analyse this piece.

i have looked at websites from peter callesen to further my understanding of what type of work he does and also to try and understand the meanings behind his work, http://trendland.com/peter-callesen-paper-cut-sculpture/# this is a website that i looked at to gain further information behind how he thinks and i found out that to him its all about simplisty of the work, he uses the most simple piece of paper for a reason its to make an impact, he has a famous quote that you find on every website about him ” IT IS PROBABLY THE MOST COMMON AND CONSUMED MEDIA USED FOR CARRYING INFORMATION TODAY. THIS IS WHY WE RARELY NOTICE THE ACTUAL MATERIALITY OF THE A4 PAPER. BY TAKING AWAY ALL THE INFORMATION AND STARTING FROM SCRATCH USING THE BLANK WHITE A4 PAPER SHEET FOR MY CREATIONS, I FEEL I HAVE FOUND A MATERIAL THAT WE ARE ALL ABLE TO RELATE TO this is where he has found his inspiration from and that is his reason for using the simple paper. which I think is amazing, and a fresh way of thinking. callesen likes to think of his paper cuts as also illustrational art. to me I think that the theme of his work is based around the material the simplicity of using the white paper is a recurring theme in almost all of his paper cuttings. A4 plain paper is definitely the key element to this piece of work.

when I first saw this piece of art work i was amazed it caught my eye straight away because I have never seen something so basic but so perfect. this piece has no negatives to it and I don't think many people would disagree with me, I haven't ever seen this type of paper cutting technique of the simple A4 paper been used before and that's what makes it so great. I think the work has inspired me to think more simple and also use the most common object and give it a whole new meaning that's when the art work really becomes amazing.

(AS-A2 project) Miles Donovan - stencilling work!!

this amazing piece has been done by a man named miles Donovan, he is a graphic designer and illustrator, his work has been used internationally for editorial work and advertising clients, his work has a range of diversity and he can adapt to different design briefs that his clients give him which makes him so popular.

the art work has been called"coney island astroland" done by printclub london, silkscreen printing an edition of 35, it was also made to be sold to the public, the techniques that have been used to create this stencil was screen-print as the base of the design and then a mixture of stencils that have created the layering of the art work, and then finished of by using the different shades of pinks and red with the white paint makes it great. and i think the use of simular colours add the effect of mixed objects that give the effect of the objects becoming one, and i think that makes the art work look busy could give the impression and loads of memory's combinded into that one place, with all of his art work he uses bold and colours that complement each other the reason for this is to make a statement each piece of his work is trying to make a statment and stand out and Donovan uses colour to achieve that effect, also the colours of some of his work is used to represent the subject of work for example fighting he would use red, his uses to power of colour to make his work stand out.

the reason I have chosen to analyse this piece, was because I loved the feel of memories it gave when i looked at it, the use of layering stencilling I haven't seen been done before and the use of layers drew me to look at it and made me want to find out more about the artist, and the use of typography there is just so much going on i had to take a closer look at it and find out more, i love the way he has used colours and layering i am a big fan of that and i think the only negative id have to say is that not all the objects are clear as they are all in the same colour although that then creates an effect on its own.

to further my understanding of stencilling and the artist, I looked at a few different websites, www.illustrationdivision.com/donovan, the reason i looked at this was to gather more information about the type of illustrations he does and how stencilling works, i found that a stencil can be any object you want it to be and that how Donovan gets his variety in his work and creates amazing pictures, I also looked at an interview of him to find out how he creates his work www.theartfuls.com/interveiws/miles_donovan I took a quote from the interview that I found interesting, "a little bit of this, a little bit of that" is how he describes his work and I think it is so fitting because he has used such a range of materials with each piece. Donovan gets his inspiration from the subject brief he takes that every time and thinks outside the box to create something amazing.

i think that his work does have a theme and I think it is shock art, because when you look at his work your amazed and it has allot of power behind each piece, and he uses bold colours to create an eye catching effect with his work. you definitely couldn't just walk past his work. and also I think the theme is about fair grounds and all the different memories they create. stencilling and layering are the key parts of this art work.

the work has inspired me to use stencilling more when I am working because before i never really did use it but now this piece has changed my mind and i have seen the amazing outcomes of using stencilling I will definitely be using it more when creating my work.
