vector !!!!!

Miles donovan is well known for his illistartion work, and has many clients around all different parts of the world. this is a vector portrate that he's done, which is part of his many designs and I think that this is really good.

the reason I wanted to look at this kinda of design and experiments was because iv never done this before and from looking at Miles work I really wanted to try it for myself. the colours are amazing and bright which is the theme for my summer album which makes it even more attractive to me for me to try out.

this design also reminds me of rock and role, with the spry paint, and the block colours really changes the look of the picture which is amazing.

this was the artist the I chose to use for my own vector design, the reason I chose Keri Hilson, was because she has allot of songs that have the dance summer feel, and also she represents females and powerful female which is also what I want my album to represent.

also her picture are most portrate which was very useful when creating my vector, because its easiest to create when the image is in portrate form, and also i want the image to show power and to me this image showed power all over which is what made me want to choose it.

this was my final vector image, but I didn't follow the exact way to create the vector the reason for this was because I wanted to make my vector a little different and also I had come across problems when trying to complete the vector so I used my knowledge of illustrator to play around and re arrange the steps and make some new ones to get my final completed image.  the first image you can see is the first attempt that went wrong as you can see the vector image has no face and doesn't look clear, but this was an experiment and from this out come i worked out a way i could change it and improve it make it look like a vector.

to get to my final image, I had to put my image into Photoshop and then first change the blur of it with smart blur, I then had to change it so I got an image that had about 3 clear colours in it, that changed the original image to something I could work with to make a vector. what I then had to do was make up separate layers for each colours, once id done that I had to go over every colour with the pen tool and do the same for each layer, once id done that I had to hide the original the image and start to block colour each different layer with a separate colour. then finally show all the layers apart from the background layer to create a vector image, only mind didn't work so well (as shown in the image above) as when id shown all the layer my vector didn't have a face to it, so after rethinking what id done, I then went and tried to also show the background layer and this then helped show the face details, and all I simply had to do was go back and add a few extra unplanned layers such as more detail to the hair to make it look like hair, I also had to add a layer for the eyes and some of the face, it was just a case of keep on adding and checking until id managed to create a vector image that also made sense.

my best part of this image was adding the background image, that was the part that worked the best because that allowed me to create a successful image, I also really like the block colours and I think that the final outcome worked really well, I also liked the colours, I think they all complement each other and I would use
this image on my summer album as I think it works really well and complements the theme of my album.

the things that didn't work so well was the fact that it didn't work well when I first tried to create the image, if I had more time I would keep working on the image and I would also want to add more detail such as spray paint in the background and more detail on the image. but overall I think that it worked really well. and I would definitely use this for my summer album.

Digital Screen Printing !!!!!!!

this is a digital screen print, that someone has done, for a band called the bronx, it was done to advertise the bands tour dates, it has been done by using different images of humans and of an animal.

to me i think that this would be good to use for my album cover because i like the way that they have taken a never seen before image and made it look normal, and i think that the face that you don't see it very often is what makes it catch peoples eyes and makes people want to look more and that is the techniques i have been looking for and i think that this one is one of the best.

this is the image that i chose for my poster the reason for this was because i wanted to firstly pick an image that matches my summer album and when i saw this image not only was it an artist that i have chosen on my album track list but also the image itself looks like summer, it looks like its hot there and like she is chilling from the sun which is what brought me to pick this image.

i then had to get an image to go with my body image, i chose a lioness the reason for this is because to me Beyonce is strong and has a power that comes along with her which is why i knew that a lioness would be perfect for her.

this was the final image that i came out with, and i think that it looks amazing, and also what i think works really well is the body looks like it should match the lion, the whole poster screams attitude and you still get the scene of summer by the pose of the body.

to do this after id got together all my images i had to put them all into photoshop, i first had to work on the body, this involved changing the colour of the image and making it into grey scale and changing the colour levels and gradient to make it look like we had printed the image. i then had to take out the head of Beyonce to allow it to be replaced by the lioness head and this was the part that i liked the most, after the image had started to become together i had to put a block colour into the background by creating a new layer then recoloured in the body to a white colour on the other layer to get this separate colour. then by playing around with the different colours levels to make it look more of a print, i then in the final stage added type.

i chose a colour that would stand out and the colour yellow reminded me of the sun and had that effect of warmth, also the bright pink made me think of summer clothes and how most clothes have bright colours, also the colours really make the black with the detail stand out and that is what i was keeping in mind when creating this.

if i was to do this again i would take more time when adding the flames, because that is what i had the most trouble with, so i f i had more time id want to go back over that, but for me that is the only thing that i would improve because the end image came out better than expected and i think that it worked really well. i would also add more text with more time, by making the image have more background to it would allow me to add more text and detail. but overall it was amazing and turned out a lot better than expected.

CD Sitching cover!!!! Pulp Hits album cover

Hits is a greatest hits collection by popular UK indie-pop band Pulp, released in Britain in November 2002. As a collection, it only covers Pulp's singles from the early-90s when they started becoming popular, although the band had existed in one form or another since 1979. this is what my album cover has been inspired by. to create an album cover that looks like it was has been stictched. this is a new and interesting idea, i havent seen it really been used before and i think that it would grabs peoples attention. and thats what an album cover should do.
this was my version of my cd cover. i wanted to create the cd cover, for the song party. thats why i wanted to have people dancing and just enjoying themselves and thats how i started to plan how i wanted to create my cd cover. it needed to be bright and have a wow factor to it. just like the cd cover above that really grabs my attentions and you get a sense of attitude when you look at it, and thats what i wanted for my album cover i wanted it to have the atmosphere of a party.

i did this by first taking pictures of people in different poses, so i would then be able to put them on photoshop and make them look like they have been stitched with fabric. to do this i had to pick a pattern for each picture and all the picture i chose i tried to make sure that they were lively and upbeat to fit in with the theme of a party, then once id found a pattern i had to add it into photoshop and use the mask tool to create the fabric effect. i then had to added text and an outline of the images this made the image look better and also to add to the look of it being stitched. this was the final outcome after i had completed the stitching effect for my cd cover.

i think that it worked really well because the images look like they are dancing and having a good time, i also really like the fact that the images looked like they have been stitched with fabrics thats the part that went the best. i also think that it reflects the pulp album cover really well.

what i think didn't go so well was the text. i wanted to make it look more like it had been stitched instead of just typed out. i also would of added more pictures of people if i had the time as i think it would create more of a party atmosphere that way. but overall i think that it worked really well and came out how i wanted it to.

papercutting...... inspired by Rob Ryan

this is a paper cutting that reflects, the work of a great paper cutting artist called rob ryan, he creates the most amazing paper cutting with type and swirls, this is my own interpretation of his work and it was also an experiment of what i could use for my album cover. i wanted something that was upbeat and livly. to reflects beyonces song called party. i also wanted to make sure that it kept in tune with rob Ryan's work and had that feel to it as well.

i created the paper cutting by first drawing out the image that i wanted in pencil, i carefully thought about the image and how it would look once i have cut everything out, i wanted it to still make sense in pencil and still again once it had been cut out. then i used a craft knife and began cutting the drawing out, keeping in mind bridges so i didn't cut off too much and to make sure it still stayed together i had to use a lot of bridges.

this was my final out comes, and i think that it worked really well and how it should of come out, i also think that that the colour orange is really good as it is bright and stands out, i wanted a colour that would reflect parting and make people feel alive, that is why i chose to use the colour organge. i also think that the design has a dancing feel to it with all the swirls and music notes which again is what i wanted to create when making this paper cutting. the strong point of this work was definitely the design that was the part that went the best and the effect worked perfectly.

the things that i thought didn't go too well was the fact that i had to make so many bridges and at times it went wrong and i had to correct it. also when using the craft knife it was hard to cut the thin lines without breaking the card. so it took a long time to get the finished result but i think that it was a success overall.
i wanted to create a new design, but instead of creating just a new paper cutting, i used the bits of card that had been cut out of my paper cutting and then putting a different colour back ground and rearranging the cut outs to create a new design on a different piece of card just to see how it would come out. and so far i think that it is amazing, i didn't expect it to work so well.

i really like the use of colours and how the blue sets off the orange i tried a lot of different colours and this one was definitely the best. because of how it makes the orange look. i don't know if i would use this way of paper cutting for my album as i prefer the first paper cutting i did. but i still think this creates a new and different effect.

this was another design that i did to try out to see how it would turn out. and this one i really like, i changed the background colours again and this time added my original paper cutting and the lose bits that i had cut out together in one piece, and this is my favourite one. i love the way that theres a mix in layers and the orange and pink working together i think works really well. it creates a great image for the viewer and the fact that its not all plain paper cutting is what makes it even more great. i would definitely want to use this for my album cover.
if i had more time in doing this paper cutting, i would of added more to my original paper cutting and i would of added different lose bits in different colours to add viviaity to the paper cutting. i would just keep working into the cutting and adding to it, to create more of a dance party feel to the paper cutting. but overall i think they all worked well and all came out really good.
